WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY OF DIRECTED FOCUS?
The philosophy of DFH is based upon the principles and practices of holistic therapy.  Your biography does become your biology, as the popular lecturer Carolyn Myss, PhD asserts; meaning that your entire world, from your experiences to the people who are drawn into your life, is a manifestation of your state of mind.  Another popular aphorism that we use to illustrate this system of thought is that "what you believe, you can achieve!"

The world beyond your eyes first begins behind your eyes, with your thoughts, belief systems, experiences and ideas working within your subconscious mind to direct the creation of the daily reality you experience.  You are a co-creative being, though this idea is just barely coming into modern consciousness, its power is pervasive and evident through our everyday experience.  Allow me to show you just how powerful you really are...

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a natural state of deep relaxation combined with an intense, "hyper-aware" mental focus on the therapist and the work of the session.  In hypnosis, the subconscious mind is in a heightened state of suggestibility (learning), and is very receptive to direct therapeutic changes.  You are mentally alert, physically relaxed, extremely aware and in complete control during therapy.

I am serious about helping you achieve your desired therapeutic outcomes.  You cannot and will not ever be compelled to do or say anything under hypnosis that is in conflict with your personal ethical standards and/or stated desires.

Directed Focus assists you in imagining the changes you'd like to make.  We help you transform from within to manifest that which you desire and call it forth into your new reality.

DOES HYPNOSIS WORK?
Experts from most healing disciplines agree that the state of a person's mind has a direct bearing on the person's behavior, and the quality of his or her life.  The ability to enrich one's life by "fine tuning" the mind, is a process which draws from resources already available deep inside each person.  We all want many of the same things in life: love, happiness, prosperity, health, and a sense of self worth.  The beliefs and experiences of our life, firmly imprinted on our minds, will ultimately guide our behavior and often determine the degree and quality of life's "good things" that we enjoy.

The changes people seek through various "self-help" programs are very often temporary.  They are usually made at the behavioral level and reinforced through consciously applied "positive thinking".  Hypnotherapy provides direct access to the mind's most powerful part, the subconscious.  Limiting beliefs and experiences can be changed, and new resources can be added, allowing your mind and body to support and guide your new behavior from the deepest levels.  You can create powerful, lasting changes.

Changes deeply rooted in the subconscious can dramatically improve and enhance your personal and professional life.  When you are ready, Hypnotherapy offers an effective, relaxing, drug-free choice for change.

Hypnosis has proven to greatly enhance the healing and recovery processes of traditional medical or psychological treatment.  We provide supportive co-therapy to increase mental focus, reduce discomfort and stimulate the healing power of your mind.

WHAT IF I CAN'T BE HYPNOTIZED?
Hypnosis isn't something that's done to someone, its a trance state achieved in partnership with the hypnotherapist.  I would only guide you through it.  Plus, hypnosis is such a natural state that you've already experienced it (i.e., the 30 minutes right before & after sleep are light hypnotic states, ever had highway hypnosis when you felt as if on autopilot?, or daydreaming is also a form of hypnosis).

It is possible to resist the hypnotic induction process but clients who come see me are generally open and accepting of the process.  This openness and desire to be hypnotized leads to being hypnotized in the hands of a good hypnotherapist.

We work together, in partnership towards achieving your desired goals.  Hypnosis is not something that is done to you.  Understanding this will more easily faciltate your successful life changes.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL SESSION LIKE?
When you come in for your first session you will fill out some paperwork (the usual forms like at your doctor's office, a handwriting sample, a fee agreement, a disclosure form, and a service agreement).  You then come into my office where we discuss what changes you wish to see in yourself and then we briefly discuss a treatment plan.

I then test your suggestibility so I can best formulate my suggestions and hypnotic techniques to best help you.  Then we induce you into the hypnotic state.  You enjoy the process and the visualization, and then you're brought back up.

We then discuss your experiences and your treatment plan.  It really is that simple.
